Efficiency is something a lot of companies say that they are really good, but in reality they have a long way to go.

If we look to the East, we see examples that really blow us away. A prime example of this is from the repairs in Japan to a stretch of motorway torn apart after their recent earthquake. There are many ways to become more efficient, here are some that Busy Lizzie work to:

Answering a phone call before 3 rings

Reply to an email within an hour of receiving it (9-5.30 Monday to Friday) otherwise reply first thing the next day

Plan, plan and plan, we all work from a default diary for all chore tasks, and then schedule in other work around that.

Utilise IT as much as possible: Skype, webinars, remote PC access, MS Project and CMS solutions are all there to help you a) reduce overheads and b) increase productivity and decrease down time

Create a business that is fully systemised and process driven. All Busy Lizzie staff have processes for their own job profiles. This does take time, but if they leave, on vacation or out sick someone is able to take on their job seamlessly.
