Always Update Social Media

28 Mar

To me, there is nothing worse than a twitter, Facebook or WordPress account that has not been updated in weeks or months.

There is no point advertising the fact that you have a social media stream if you do not have the time to update it regularly.

There are many tools out there to make it easier to manage your social media posts in one place. The team at Busy Lizzie love using Hootsuite, we are PC driven but I know there are many MAC versions out there. The great thing about these tools is that you are able to schedule in tweets/FB and WordPress messages in advance, track the effect of campaigns through their metric driven analytics (fee based) and manage all communication in one place.

The main thing to remember with Facebook is that is has a ranking system called edgerank that will load your posts based on the frequency in which you post. The optimum for this is every other day, and 2 posts/day to ensure that the majority of your posts are show in your news feed.

With Twitter retweeting peaks at 5.30 and at weekends, so that is a good time to get your message out there. People are either doing a final check before they leave the office, or they are doing it at home or via their PDAs, iphones or androids over the weekend.

Recent research from Mashable suggests that blogs that have more than 5 posts/day show the best results. Always drive your blog posts to your WEBSITE, and reply to any comments in a timely manner.

With all social media, ask open-ended questions. Interact with your followers to get them to buy into your brand.

Busy Lizzie provides advice on all types of back office outsourcing solutions, including quality social media services.
